Zonta Club of Para District Area Inc partners with local high school to start new women’s group

Members of the Zonta Club of Para District Area Inc, Australia, were recently invited to assist in starting a new women’s organization at a local high school.

At Parafield Gardens High School, almost half of all students are international, with English as their second language. The school currently has an international program in operation, but wants to expand their support to these students even further. The school’s assistant principal proposed the idea to start a new group for refugee and immigrant women and invited the Zonta members to attend the first meeting.

At the meeting, club members had the opportunity to share Zonta’s mission and further speak about the past Zonta awardees that attend the high school.

As a result of the meeting, the club has decided to work with the group of women through having a Birthing Kit Assembly Day. This would provide a valuable experience, where the women can practice their English skills in a safe environment, make something that will directly be sent to help their international communities and ultimately bond with each other.
